US Citizens oppose Israel’s War On Palestine; US Elected Officials Condone/Support Genocide
* As Israel’s brutal war on Palestine accelerates to frightening proportions, people the world over including an
increasing majority of US citizens are rising up in outrage against genocide, and calling for a ceasefire.

* According to recent surveys, a Gallup poll finds 60% of Americans disapprove of Israel’s war on Palestine, and a
YouGov survey finds that 84% of the US electorate favors immediate ceasefire, while 27% support Netanyahu.*

* How can it be that in spite of public opinion and Israel’s barbaric tactics, a majority in the US Congress continues to support Israel unconditionally? One significant reason is the influence of AIPAC over US elected officials.

AIPAC - Israel’s Influence On Us Elections
* AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a national movement of pro-Israel Americans, invested $56
million to support House and Senate candidates in the 2024 elections. 96% of the candidates they supported won.

* AIPAC donated to 361 candidates, targeting populations traditionally sympathetic to the Palestinian cause: 50% of
the Congressional Black Caucus; 59% of Congressional Hispanic Caucus; 56% of Asian Pacific American Caucus; 37%
Congressional Progressive Caucus, 87% of vets running for office, 61% of Jews, 57% of women, 79% freshmen.

* AIPAC donated to 65% of House and Senate candidates in both parties. Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson: at
least $654,000; Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries: at least $933,000. Both unwaveringly support
Israel’s genocidal actions in Gaza.

* AIPAC also donated $20 million to primary races against candidates opposing Israel’s war, successfully defeating 12
primary candidates including Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman, unseating them. Bush and Bowman were among the first
in Congress to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.***

AIPAC’s logo is a Star of David with stars and stripes in red, white and blue like the American flag, suggesting how Israel, as represented by AIPAC, has infiltrated the USA. It appears that they have appropriated the US flag, and forced it into the form of the Star of David, the symbol on the Israeli flag.

 CRITICISM OF ISRAEL IS NOT ANTISEMITISM

 Israel is a political entity. Speaking out against actions by Israel is no different than speaking out against the actions of any other country, such as China, Russia, or the USA. Criticizing the actions of any political entity is our right and obligation in a democratic society. The claim that opposing anything Israel does is antisemitic is a political lightening rod designed to silence dissent and frighten politicians and citizens who stand up for human rights, including the rights of Palestinians.

Antisemitism is hostility to or prejudice against Jewish people and followers of the Jewish religion. Through-out history Jews have suffered deeply from cruel antisemitism. It cheapens these terrible experiences by using the accusation of antisemitism to excuse Israel for committing atrocities against others. Many Jews and Jewish organizations vehemently oppose actions of the State of Israel.

Conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism is a dangerous trend that is taking over our country. On many college campuses students have been expelled and faculty fired, accused of antisemitism for standing up for Palestinian rights in the face of Israel’s brutal genocide. Now it is taking over California public schools in the form of AB 715, which passed the California state legislature and awaits Gov. Newsome’s signature, unless he can be persuaded to veto the bill. But he is extremely unlikely to veto 715, because of the fear as a politician of being labeled antisemitic, especially in light of his goal of running for President. Such is the power of AIPAC and the Israeli lobby to control US elections.
