Butte for a Free Palestine is circulating a petition calling on Senators Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla to VOTE NO on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), section 1217, which would merge the U.S. and Israeli militaries to co-produce deadly weapons, AI, and surveillance technology, entangling our country ever more deeply in Israel's military actions and policies. Deadly Merger
The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the NDAA - National Defense Authorization Act, including a section which would permanently merge U.S. and Israeli militaries to co-produce deadly weapons, AI, and surveillance technology. This merger would entangle the U.S. ever more deeply with Israel’s policies and military actions.
Bernie Sanders/ Our Revolution, says, “The merger would supersize weapons deals, surveillance tech, and intelligence sharing for years to come.” Some critics call it treason, warning that “integrating Israeli companies and technology into sensitive Pentagon programs would surrender part of America’s control over its defense infrastructure.”
Adalah Justice Project calls it the Deadly Merger,” sounding the alarm that adoption of this merger “will make it nearly impossible to cut ties with Israel and much harder to track and regulate U.S. complicity in the Israeli military’s crimes.”
Approval of the NDAA now moves on to the Senate, on recess until Sept. 14. To stop this devastating entanglement, we must persuade the Senate to oppose Section 1217 of the NDAA!
TAKE ACTION
Sign our petition and flood California Senators Schiff and Padilla with calls: Ask them to not only stop sending $3.3 billion each year to Israel but also strip Section 1217 from the NDAA !
Your calls matter! Last Tax Day, April 15, both Senators voted to oppose funding for the U.S. to send 1000 pound bombs to Israel. You can be sure their vote was the result of people like us rising up in large numbers, demanding that they vote NO!
